Nutella Christmas Tree Puff Pastry Recipe
1 package of puff pastry (2 sheets)
1/2-3/4 cup Nutella
1 egg + a splash of water
1/4 cup powdered sugar (optional but highly recommend)
Equipment
Baking sheet
Parchment Paper
Star cookie cutter
Pastry brush
Large Knife
Step 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2
Lightly dust flour on countertop and roll out both sheets of puff pastry to make two large rectangles.
Step3
Move 1 sheet of puff pastry to the baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread out Nutella on the first sheet of puff pastry using a dull knife. Layer on the other puff pasty sheet.
Step 4
Now let’s cut out the tree & shapes! Use a knife to cut though pastry and make 2 sides of the triangle/Christmas tree shape. When cutting the bottom side, don’t cut all the way across, instead cut out a tree trunk shape. Use your star cookie cutter to cut out 1 star for the top of the tree. Any remaining pastry scraps can also be cut into star shapes.

Step 5
On to the branches! Cut 1 inch “branches” into each side of the tree, leaving a 1 inch gap in the middle of “the trunk”. Twist each branch 2 times and push the end onto the parchment paper to lock in place. Toward the top of the tree, you can only twist the branches once.
Step 6
Make egg wash by whisking 1 egg with a splash of water. Using a pastry knife, brush egg wash all over the top of the pastry.
Step 7
Bake for 12 minutes, until golden brown. Cool 5 minutes before transferring to a serving tray. Dust with powdered sugar. Enjoy!
